The Drum and Monkey in Calgary submitted Description
Make it Two for One
Despite being located next door to the Bamboo Lounge dance club (the two are linked by a common hallway, making bar-hopping here a little too easy), the Drum and Monkey is a wood paneled pub that offers a different atmosphere than many of the more dance-type clubs in the area. Lacking a dance floor, the Drum and Monkey is a place to raise a glass with friends and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, though a few pints may draw you in next door.
Visit the UK Without Leaving 1st Street
If your knickers are really in a twist for some British food, the Drum and Monkey offers UK-style curries, bangers and mash, and an all-day British breakfast, replete with sausages, grilled tomatoes, and beans. Other menu specials are also offered for patrons during the week, and include pita pizza Mondays and half-price appetizers on Thursdays. Another perk at this pub is that during the warmer months, the Drum and Monkey offers an outdoor patio along 1st Street.
Laid Back Beats or Fast Paced Footie
If your appetite runs more to music, the Drum and Monkey is home to the DJ-driven sounds of Dub at the Pub on Tuesday nights, and also welcomes local bands on a regular basis, championing the cause of independent music in Calgary. Boasting several televisions, the Drum is known as the unofficial home of the Rangers Football Club, and each of their games is broadcast live, allowing fans to enjoy the match with a pint and a true football ambiance.
