Ilyxor Fusion and Dance in Calgary submitted Description
The Scene
Ilyxor opened April 2006, in the space formerly occupied by Boyztown. While they have revamped the bar and its image, it still has the same industrial, warehouse feel it always had. Visible steel pipes, rock, and exposed brickwork contribute to Ilyxor’s raw appeal. It has the look and feel of a club located in some exotic destination, but you won’t need a passport to cut loose for a weekend at Ilyxor.
The Sounds
Variety is the key to a great night at Ilyxor. They feature different DJ’s on both levels of the club. If the DJ upstairs is playing top 40, hip-hop and R&B upstairs, then downstairs might be house, trance, techno and dance. Or perhaps it’ll be reggae or rock; you never know what surprises are in store at Ilyxor. You can float back and forth between the two levels and take it all in. Check out Absolut Fridays with the Alliance Sound Crew, who have reappeared on Calgary’s club scene to spin hip-hop and old school at Ilyxor every Friday night.
In the Works
The classy and fun scene and the world class DJ’s ensure a great nightclub experience at Ilyxor. What else could you want? Great food? They’re on it. They’re currently overhauling their kitchen, so keep your eyes pealed for a brand new menu and yet another reason to spend your night at Ilyxor Fusion and Dance.
